Continuous Washing Line

A continuous washing line removes unfixed dye and chemicals left on the fabric surface after printing and fixation, in a multi-compartment line. The fabric runs continuously through the line and is washed and rinsed.

01 / About the System

What is Continuous Washing Line

A washing line consists of wash and rinse compartments arranged one after another. As the fabric passes through them, dye and auxiliary chemicals left on the surface are removed.

The washing set-up varies with the ink class. In reactive and acid prints, removing unbonded dye matters; in direct disperse prints, cleaning residues after fixation.

How excess water is removed at the end of washing and how the fabric is readied for drying depends on the line layout. The number of compartments and the water and temperature set-up are planned for the fabric and the process.

02 / Applications

Areas of use

  1. 01

    Washing after steaming

Removing unbonded dye in reactive printing.

  2. 02

    Washing after acid printing

Removing pre-treatment and dye residues on silk, wool and nylon.

  3. 03

    Washing after direct disperse

Cleaning dye and chemicals left on the surface after fixation.

  4. 04

    Continuous production lines

The last step in lines that join printing, fixation and washing in one flow.

The washing set-up and results are confirmed with a test print for each fabric and ink series.

  1. 01Fabric Entry

    Fabric entry

Fixed fabric is taken into the washing line.

  2. 02Washing

    Washing

Unfixed dye and chemicals are removed in the wash compartments.

  3. 03Rinsing

    Rinsing

Residues are rinsed away in the rinse compartments.

  4. 04Delivery

    Delivery

The fabric is relieved of excess water and passed to the next step (drying).

Water, temperature and washing time vary with the fabric and the ink series.

04 / Process

Supply and Commissioning Process

A washing line is equipment that has to be planned together with water and waste water management. Once the site infrastructure and the fabric are clear, supply, installation and commissioning steps are addressed.

  1. 01

    Needs assessment

The fabric and ink classes, the washing need and the water and waste water infrastructure of the site are identified.

  2. 02

    System configuration

The wash and rinse compartments and the fabric handling are defined according to the fabric and the process.

  3. 03

    Supply

It is clarified whether the supply scope covers only the washing line or also auxiliary equipment such as water preparation and drying.

  4. 04

    Installation

The water, energy and waste water connections and the length-dependent layout of the line are addressed in the installation plan.

  5. 05

    Commissioning

In trials with fabric, colour, fastness and residue results after washing are assessed together.

  6. 06

    Technical support

After commissioning, a technical service request can be created for washing results or fabric handling issues.
