Printing Systems

Direct Disperse Textile

A direct disperse system prints disperse ink directly onto polyester fabric without transfer paper. Fixation and washing after printing are planned according to the fabric and the line layout.

01 / About the System

What is Direct Disperse Textile

In direct disperse printing, ink containing disperse dye is applied straight to the fabric surface rather than to transfer paper. The method is used on synthetic fabrics, above all polyester.

After printing, the dye is fixed so that heat carries it into the fibre. The fixation method and conditions depend on the fabric and the ink series.

After fixation, washing removes dye and auxiliary chemicals left on the fabric surface. The system configuration is set by where these steps sit in the line.

02 / Applications

Areas of use

  1. 01

    Sportswear and activewear

Direct printing on polyester-based sportswear fabrics.

  2. 02

    Home textiles

Polyester-based products such as curtains, upholstery and decorative fabric.

  3. 03

    Flag and banner fabrics

Polyester flags, pennants and soft signage fabrics.

  4. 04

    Fashion fabrics

Pattern and sample prints on polyester-based fashion fabrics.

Fabric structure and fixation conditions are confirmed with a test print in each application.

03 / System Structure

Process flow

  1. 01Pre-Treatment

    Fabric preparation

The fabric is prepared to suit the printing and fixation conditions.

  2. 02Printer

    Printing

Disperse ink is printed directly onto the fabric without transfer paper.

  3. 03Fixation

    Fixation

Under heat, the dye moves into the fibre and becomes fixed.

  4. 04Washing

    Washing

Dye and auxiliary chemicals left on the surface are removed.

The fixation method, time and temperature vary with the fabric and the ink series.

04 / Process

Supply and Commissioning Process

In a direct disperse system, machine selection is handled together with the fabric type and the fixation and washing capability in the line. Existing line components and missing equipment are clarified before installation and commissioning are planned.

  1. 01

    Needs assessment

The target polyester fabrics, the product group and the fixation and washing capability in the line are identified.

  2. 02

    System configuration

The printer, the fixation equipment and the consumables are defined according to the fabric type and the production pattern.

  3. 03

    Supply

It is clarified whether the supply scope covers only the printer or also the fixation equipment.

  4. 04

    Installation

The energy and water infrastructure needed for the fixation and washing steps is addressed in the installation plan.

  5. 05

    Commissioning

In test prints, colour, pattern sharpness and post-fixation results are assessed together on the fabric.

  6. 06

    Technical support

If colour or fixation results drift after commissioning, a technical service request can be created.

TrueHue Direct Disperse Textile inks

The disperse ink for this system can be selected from the TrueHue Direct Disperse Textile family. Compatibility is not determined by the ink alone; the machine configuration, the print head, the fabric and the fixation conditions are assessed together.
