TrueHue High Penetration Sublimation Inks

High penetration sublimation inks are a subclass formulated to penetrate fabric fibres more deeply than standard sublimation inks. They are considered in polyester applications that call for dense colour.

01 / About the Ink

What is high penetration sublimation ink

High penetration sublimation ink works on the same principle as standard sublimation: the design is printed on transfer paper and under heat the dye passes into the polyester fibre. The difference is that the formulation aims for the dye to work deeper into the fibre.

The aim is for dark tones and dense designs to appear more distinct in the print. The result varies with fabric type, design and print settings; for light or medium-density designs standard sublimation may be sufficient.

The choice depends on the colour density target of the design rather than on the polyester content of the fabric. The ink is assessed together with machine configuration, print head, transfer paper and transfer conditions.

02 / Applications

Applications

  1. 01

    Sportswear and team wear

Dense-colour prints on polyester jersey and activewear fabrics.

  2. 02

    Flags and textile graphics

Polyester flag, pennant and textile signage fabrics.

  3. 03

    Home textiles

Prints on polyester cushion, curtain and decorative fabrics.

  4. 04

    Dense-structure fabrics

Thick or textured polyester surfaces where penetration matters; suitability is determined by test print.

Colour density and fabric structure are verified with a test print in each application.

03 / Process

The ink's place in the process

  1. 01Paper Printing

    Printing on paper

The design is printed onto transfer paper with high penetration sublimation ink.

  2. 02Drying

    Drying

The printed paper is made dry and flat before transfer.

  3. 03Heat Transfer

    Heat transfer

Paper and fabric are joined under heat and pressure in a calender or press; the dye passes into the fibre.

  4. 04Finishing

    Finishing

The fabric is cooled, separated from the paper and prepared for cutting or sewing.

Transfer temperature, time and pressure are determined by the fabric, the paper and the ink series.

Sublimation Ink: What It Is and How It Works

Sublimation ink is a dye-based ink system that turns directly from solid to gas under heat; the image printed on transfer paper is transferred into the fiber structure of polyester fabric with a calender press.
